Nail Bed, Explained
Quick definition
The skin beneath the nail plate that anchors and nourishes it.
The bed's ridges guide nail growth and its vasculature gives nails their healthy pink. Chronic picking, aggressive gel peeling or injury can shorten its attachment — causing nail separation.
Protecting the bed means protecting the free edge: capped polish ends and gloves for cleaning do more than any strengthener.
